Was a nice easy hike. There wasn't many people on the trail with how busy the canyon was today. The trail takes you through forest and along Whiskey Creek on your way up. The bugs were horrible and the wind made the trees seem like they were about to fall. Really good camp spots on the north side. But it’s a gorgeous hike & well worth it at the top. After about a quarter of a mile, a large cascade appears on the left side of the trail. My husband made the observation that he wouldn't feel comfortable camping in the area with how many standing dead trees there were. Dogs are also able to use this trail. Catch catfish, large mouth bass, red eyes, blue gill etc. It was approaching 7PM when we saw the Bourbon Lake trailhead. On our way back down the wind really kicked up and we could hear it rushing toward us and trees started coming down. I clocked this as 2.7miles. That was just to the edge of the lake and back.
